The routines below will allow HP-41 users to print their own barcode. The routines differ in their requirements of hardware and plug-in roms to be able to do this.
Print Bar Code on the 82162 Small HP-IL Thermal Printer.

What does bar code printed on the 82162 printer look like? Try this:

There are three ways of printing bar code on the 82162 printer presented below. One requires the plotter module. The other does not require the plotter module but uses some synthetic programming. The third does not use synthetic programming but requires the CCD module. Choose the one that is best suited to what you have. All three work equally well. Note: The programs below use a LOT of thermal paper. Be sure you have enough. If you run out, they will prompt you for the additional roll to be put in and continue. (Paper is still sold through Educalc (1-800-677-7001 in the US) and other places).

Program #1 Requirements: This program requires the HP-IL Module, the HP-IL 82162 thermal printer and the HP-41 Plotter Module.

Program #2 Requirements: This program requires the HP-IL Module, the HP-IL 82162 thermal printer and an HP-41CX or HP-41CV with an extended functions/memory module. You ALSO need a bar code wand to scan in four program lines as you key this program in. (Unless you want to or know how to key in the four synthetic programming lines).

Program #3 Requirements: This program requires the HP-IL Module, the HP-IL 82162 thermal printer and an HP-41CX or HP-41CV with an extended functions/memory module., the HP-IL Development Module AND the CCD module.
